We are a trust that has been in action for many years and we see the highs and lows every day. Here are some of the tales that have moved us for many reasons.
Christmas Day Kittens

Christmas Day 2007 gave us an example of the worst, and the best, of human beings. These four little black kittens, about four weeks old (and one already very sick with infected eyes) were callously dumped to die either by dehydration or worse.

Cats in Need Trust were lucky enough to have had some of our cats featured in a New Zealand Police campaign early 2011. Our cats showed themselves to be very industry savvy! Highly featured are Osiris and Dominic near the front.
The Real Victims of the Recession

The impact of the recession lead to a large number of animals being destroyed or surrendered by their owners. We had a case recently where a man had two cats aged 14 and 16 (who he'd had since kittens) and couldn't afford to keep them anymore.
Crisis Kittens

These little 'crisis kittens' were found in 2008, alone and with no sign of their mother. They were brought to the care and attention of the Trust where they had to be bottle-fed every two hours to ensure they got the nutrients they needed to survive.

Sultan - The Little Survivor

This emaciated kitten was found with sometimes wrong with it's two back legs. A visit to the vet revealed the extent of his injuries - cigarettes. The vet spent a substantial amount of time digging out multiple cigarettes from the kitten's legs.

A Special Case: Paddlefoot

Little Paddlefoot was born in early December 2006 and became very sick with cat flu and gunky eyes, weighing only 300 grams and it was a struggle to keep him alive. He had to be hand fed for three weeks with a small teat on a bottle.
