We have some beautiful cats in foster care who are aching to have a forever home, many have been brought to us after being found abandoned or abused and many others have been surrendered to us after being unwanted. Our primary aim is to keep them healthy and happy and find them all loving homes where they will be part of the family forever.

About the adoption process:

By looking through the cats we have online you can get an idea of who is available for rehoming and see if anyone catches your eye! You are welcome to Email us or call us on 09 276 9960 or 027 426 4374 to make an appointment between 12noon and 2pm to view the cat you are interested in.

If you meet your perfect match, you will need to fill in some paperwork and the adoption costs will be explained to you. There is a stand-down period before you are able to take your new friend home as we process the paperwork and take the cat for their final full vet check.

When you adopt from us this is what your trust cat will be:

Vet checked
Desexed
Vaccinated (at least one vaccination).
Microchipped

Post adoption

Once you take your new family member home, we advise that you keep them inside for approx 3 - 4 weeks to ensure that they adapt to their new surroundings and also learn your voice! This will keep them safe through this phase and you can use this time to bond with your cat.

Some cats, even if they are very friendly, will be very nervous in new surroundings so you can expect that there may be anywhere near to a few days to weeks before they fully relax.

Of course, there are others who are very adaptable and blend in very seamlessly but we still recommend this inhouse period as we have had many cats go missing from being let out
too early.

This is a beautiful poem that touched our hearts at Cats In Need Trust. The cat featured in the image below is Marta, one of our sponsor cats.
